THE GREATEST GIFT; America’s Best Hope
Unfortunately, much of the growth many churches experience today is adoption growth. We add members who were led to Christ by someone else and who attended another church before joining ours. Rather than birthing new born babes in Christ, we adopt full grown orphaned members who left their church homes in search of a new one. The Body of Christ is merely transfering members instead of mulitpying.
We cannot improve on Christ’s simple plan for building our churches; EVANGELISM! Mt 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. We are to share our faith and seek to bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The very mention of sharing our faith with another person face to face causes great anxiety to many Christians. The primary reason for this fear is that they have not developed a step by step approach to leading someone to Christ. Roy Harris is a veteran pastor who has personally led many to a saving knowledge of Christ. He taught PERSONAL EVANGELISM as a professor at Free Will Baptist Bible College to all new students. He also led the churches he pastored in gaining a burden for evangilism and developed and taught an approach that has been successful.
Seeing the need and at the request of a number of Pastors and churches, Roy developed his personal soul winning approach into a conference/revival format called: “The Greatest Gift.” The 3 session conference format can be done in one Sunday during the Sunday School hour, Snnday morning worship hour and completed in the Sunday evening service. It can also be done with a Saturday morning format or expanded to a Sunday through Wednesday Evangelism Revival format. It can also be done in a quarterly or state meeting context.
“The Greatest Gift” emphasizes:
How to begin.
How to move towards the most important question.
How to navigate and use Scripture.
How to bring the unsaved to a decsion about Christ.
How the lead the sinner to pray for forgiveness.
How to gain assurance of salvation.
How to make a public profession of faith in Christ.
